Abraham blessed his nephew Lot and gave him first choice of the land in Canaan (Gen. 13). He also rescued Lot when he became a prisoner of war (Gen. 14), and because of Abraham’s intercession, Lot was spared when Sodom was destroyed (Gen. 19:1–29). Unfortunately, Lot didn’t follow his uncle’s example of faith and ended up in a cave, drunk and committing incest (Gen. 19:30–38). Lot and his descendants brought trouble to Israel, not blessing.
